Of Alton Bay New Hampshire, passed away peacefully Monday evening June 1st, 2020 with loving family by his side at the Care Dimensions Hospice Home in Lincoln at the age of 78.
Born on July 6, 1941 in Cambridge; beloved son of the late of Philip and Irene (Poirier) Fournier. Don was raised in Watertown and lived most of his life in Waltham while spending the last several years splitting his time between Punta Gorda, Florida and Alton Bay New Hampshire.
He served proudly and honorably with United States Army/Army National Guard.
Don graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1959 and furthered his education at Middlesex Community College and a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He served as a Police Officer in the Town of Belmont after being appointed in April 1963 rising through the ranks to Lieutenant before his retirement in August 2005.
He was a member of the Elks for 52 years and the American Legion for 23 years.
His family and his friends were always first and foremost; he cherished the time spent surrounded by those he loved. Known to many as a man of leisure he was also known as Don, Donnie, Deacon Don, Donka, Bronc, Captain, The Bald One, Mr. Fournier, Casino Don, Mayor of the park, and Father of the Greer Street Haunted House. ; In his spare time he enjoyed Fishing, Hunting, Boating, Golfing, Reading, Cribbage, and Motorcycles.
Don will forever live in the hearts and minds of those he leaves behind to mourn his loss.
He is survived by his devoted & loving children; Donald Fournier Jr of Punta Gorda Florida, Steven (Linda) Fournier of Waltham; Robert (Rachael) Fournier of Billerica; Shannon Fournier of Punta Gorda; Philip (Julie) Fournier of Waltham; Nicole Fournier of Waltham; cherished grandchildren;; adoring great grandchildren; and his partner Deborah Tener of Port Charlotte Florida. In addition he is survived by several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his Wife Geraldine (Maguire); Sisters Jeanne Clary and Reine Leary
For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, and for those who wish to pay their respects to Donald and his family can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal and State guidelines in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA., on Saturday afternoon June 6th from 1 - 4 p.m. followed by a funeral service celebrating his life at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.
The Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home of WALTHAM assisted Don’s family with arrangements.
