Our Heritage

Leo T. Brasco Jr. & his wife Mildred R. (Cotton) Brasco succeeded John J. Johnson, president of the Johnson Memorial Chapel, located on MassachusettsAvenue in Cambridge near Harvard Square in the operation of the Johnson Memorial Chapel in the early 1940's.

In August of 1943 Leo & Mildred Brasco opened the Brasco Funeral Home at 773 Moody Street, Waltham, and moved to this city with their family.  At that time they closed the Johnson Memorial Chapel.  For many years families served by Leo Brasco at the Cambridge facility continued to seek out his professional services even though he had relocated to Waltham, Massachusetts.

In 1959 Leo & Mildred Brasco suffered the grief of loss themselves, losing their eldest son George M. Brasco to a sudden illness as he was about to enter the funeral service with his dad.  At that time the Brasco Funeral Home was renamed and rededicated the "The Brasco Memorial" in memory of George M. Brasco.

Leo Brasco Jr. had been a well recognized leader in funeral service having performed many services for indigents and for soldiers killed in World War II whose families could not afford funeral services, all without fee.  Mr. Brasco also served his community in many charitable and civic ways too numerous to list.

The firm was known as Brasco Memorial untill 1967, when the fourth child of Leo & Mildred Brasco joined the firm and it had become known as "The Brasco & Son Memorial" and Wayne F. Brasco Sr. joined in the family tradition of service to fellow man in funeral service.

In 1971, Leo, Mildred & Wayne F. Brasco announced the acquisition of the Trapelo Funeral Home at 325 Trapelo Road in Belmont, Massachusetts, renaming the home The Brasco & Son Memorial.

In 1981, after the death of Leo Brasco Jr., Wayne F. Brasco Sr. was elected President of the corporation by Mildred R. Brasco and serves today as President & Treasurer of the Brasco & Son Memorial Chapels Inc.

In 1991 the firm was joined by Wayne's eldest son James F. Brasco and in 1995 by his youngest son Paul J. Brasco.  Now known as Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels.
