Marjorie F. DeRosa (Sweeney)
Of Newton, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning October 26th, 2017 at the Briarwood Rehabilitation Center in Needham after a long illness at the age of 79.

Born on August 24, 1938 in Boston; daughter of the late Edward and Sophie Sweeney, Marjorie was raised in the West End section of Boston and had lived for a period of time in Brighton before moving to Newton in 1965.

Marjorie attended catholic schools in Boston, and had been employed as a Manager for the restaurant in the former Filene's Basement Department store in Chestnut Hill. During the late 1950's, Marjorie met her husband while working at the old Chestnut Hill Country Club now the Newton Commonwealth Country Club. Marjorie had a true love for children, and had provided home daycare for many children over a 30 year period.

She had no greater love then that for her family especially her grandchildren. Marjorie loved the time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed going to the beach, cooking, playing cards & scrabble, had a love for animals and listening to music especially Neil Diamond.

Marjorie is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years Richard J. DeRosa, her loving & devoted children Richard J. DeRosa Jr. and his wife Geri Ann of Glastonbury, CT, Francine Seeto and her husband Clifford of Framingham, Diane Corsetti and her husband Enrico of West Newton, her cherished grandchildren R.J., James, Jessica and Niki, and her adoring great granddaughter Isabella. In addition she is survived by Mandi Garfield, who she cared for and loved like another daughter, and many nieces and nephews.

Dear sister of the late Mary DiMuzio and her husband the late Louis.
