Of Waltham, died Thursday evening, December 29, 2011, at the Walden Rehabilitation Center in Concord after a long illness.
Mrs. Irrera was born in Lawrence to the late Edward and Josephine (Vasta) Morandi. She was raised and educated in Belmont where she had been a longtime resident. Mrs. Irrera has been a Waltham resident for the past 50 years.
Mrs. Irrera retired from hairdressing after 70 years as a beautician. She started in Belmont Center and had work in various salons throughout her career. She spent many years working at Salon Di Elio before retiring 5 years ago.
A wonderful cook, she enjoyed traveling with her late husband. They frequented Old Orchard Beach in Maine. She also enjoyed playing bingo.
Mrs. Irrera was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Irrera, her daughter, Janet E. MacDonald and her son, Frank E. Perry.
She is survived by her son in law, Ronny MacDonald of Millbury, her brothers, Edward and John "Jack" Morandi both of Ocala, Florida, her sister in law, Mary Santoro of Belmont, her grandchildren, Melissa, David and Linda Perry and Elena Sullivan and Sean and Jeffrey MacDonald and her great grandchildren, Joseph Sullivan and Ryan MacDonald.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in Celebration of Eleanor's Life on Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Luke's Church at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at the Belmont Cemetery.
