Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Sunday January 3rd, 2016 in Newton – Wellesley Hospital at the age of 82.
Born on March 30, 1933 in Orsara di Puglia, Italy; daughter of the late Pasquale and Michelina (Bruno) Russo, Maria immigrated to the United States in 1955 and has been a resident of Waltham ever since.
Maria had a love of gardening, cooking was a passion of hers especially making her signature sauce, she enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and her Sunday trips to Mohegan Sun.
Beloved wife of the late Paolo Mastropieri.
Maria is survived by her devoted & loving children Lina Tramontozzi and her husband Michael of West Newton, Leonard “Dino” Mastropieri of Waltham and Paul Mastropieri of Douglas, her cherished grandchildren Michael and his wife Kimberly, Christina, Anthony Tramontozzi and Joseph Mastropieri, adoring great grandmother of Luca Antonio, and her dears sisters Rocchina Del Priore of Waltham and Incoronata Tramonte of Italy. In addition she is survived by several nieces & nephews.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday Jan. 8th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Maria’s Life at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 – 7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
