Obituary for Anna Marie Battista (Paglia)

Anna Marie (Paglia) Battista

Of Brookline, formerly of Newton, passed away peacefully on Friday morning March 15, 2024 with her loving family by her side in the comfort of her home at the age of 76.

Born on January 23, 1948 in Newton; daughter of the late Cesidio "Joe" Paglia and Loreta Paglia. Anna was born, raised, educated and lived the majority of her life in Newton before moving to Brookline 8 years ago.

A graduate of Our Lady's High School in Newton, Anna furthered her education at Aquinas Jr. College in Newton. She was employed in her early years at the Raytheon Corporation in Waltham; and then Anna spent 20 years as a Secretary at Brandeis University in Waltham until her retirement.

Anna's life revolved around her family. It was her everything; her greatest enjoyment came from being surrounded by family and especially her grandchildren. Her love definitely shined through in her cooking; she was an amazing cook.

Although she had different hobbies and interests over the years nothing surpassed her passion for the casino. She loved her many trips to the Encore in Everett or any other casino around. Maybe not an official club but she definitely earned her points with Wynn Rewards.

Anna is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years Anthony D. "Tony" Battista; her devoted & loving sons; Mark Battista and his husband Christopher Prokop of Brookline; and Michael "Mike" Battista and Charlene LeBlanc of Needham; her cherished grandchildren Ana and Sophia, Drew and Gabrielle; and her dear siblings Rita Leone of Newton; Rick Paglia of Newton and Doreen Vaglica of Natick. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
