Obituary for Luisa Leonelli (Mazzoccolo)

Luisa Leonelli ( Mazzoccolo) 85, of Waltham passed away peacefully on the night of Wednesday, March 27th surrounded by her loving family.

Born to the late Concetta Mazzoccolo on December 14th 1938 in Naples, Italy.

Luisa, was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Growing up a bit earlier than most, at the age of 16 she became the sole provider and head of her family after her mother’s illness and later death. Despite the adversities of life, she continued to demonstrate strength and perseverance in the midst of darkness. A woman of great faith, compassionate, gentle and kind she often placed the needs of others before her own.

For many years, she worked in the textile Industry as a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and creating beautiful Afghans, blankets and needlework for family and friends through the years but what brought her most joy, was the time she spent with her family and making sure everyone was happy.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, loving parents and her sister Maria Guerra.

Luisa is survived by her caring and devoted children, Elena Simone (Leonelli) and her husband Giusseppe of Waltham, Maria Iannetti ( Leonelli) and her husband Richard of Waltham , Oreste Leonelli and wife Carolyn of Sudbury, Concetta Bradshaw and husband Michael of Ashland, Anna Jaillet and husband Paul of Florida and Salvatore Leonelli and wife Nerissa of Waltham. In addition, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Luisa has been a gift to our family’s legacy, showing us all the power of kindness and love. We will cherish every memory we created with her and she will remain forever loved.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather and remember Luisa during visiting hours on Friday, April 5th 2024 from 10 AM to 12 Pm in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels, located 773 Moody Street. A Funeral Service in celebration of her life will began at 12PM. Parking Attendants will be on duty.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
