Leona Eileen (LeBlanc) Zammuto

Of North Andover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning May 10th, 2023 at her residence in Brightview Assisted Living in North Andover at the age of 92.

Born on December 14, 1930 in Waltham; daughter of the late Frank LeBlanc and Sarah (Legere) LeBlanc. Leona was raised in Waltham and resided in New Hampshire for a period of time before moving to Brooksby Village in Peabody and most recently to North Andover. She loved the time spent with family and friends traveling to Siesta Keys in Florida and at Lake Winnipesaukee in Laconia, New Hampshire.

In her early years Leona worked as a Travel Agent from her home; but devoted herself to her family as a loving wife and mother to her husband and children.

Her family and her friends were always first and foremost; she was loyal, generous, kind, and caring. Leona was a gentle spirit and a positive force of nature. She cherished the time and special occasions she spent with family and friends.

In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing Mahjong when in Siesta Keys in Florida.

Leona was predeceased by her beloved husband the late (Ret.) Waltham Fire Chief Joseph J. Zammuto in November of 2021.

She is survived by her devoted & loving children; Richard Michael Zammuto and his wife Julie of Canada; Sharon Lynn Zammuto and her companion Harry Ross Robinson of Methuen; and Sandra Jean Carboni of Florida; and the late John Stephen Zammuto; her cherished grandchildren Jennifer Zammuto, Justin Carboni and Vinne Carboni; and dear siblings Dottie Tricone of Methuen; Richard LeBlanc of New Hampshire; and the late Jean Nasco, Eva Miller, Helen Delorey, Leo LeBlanc and Jeanette Sousa. In addition, she is survived by 4 adoring great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Family & Friends are welcome to gather and celebrate the love & friendship Leona shared with others at Funeral Service in the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut Street, NEWTON on Saturday morning May 20th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be held in the Newton Cemetery Chapel prior to the funeral service on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Parking attendants on duty.
