Yvette M. (Veilleux) Abbott

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family in her home after being diagnosed with cancer only a few days before her passing at the age of 70.

Born on July 14, 1952 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; daughter of the late Philippe and Anita (Wedge) Veilleux. Yvette came to the United States at the age of 4 in 1956; she was raised, educated and lived her life in Waltham.

A graduate of Waltham High School with the Class of 1970; Yvette got a job opportunity with the district court in Waltham and worked her way over the years to position of 1st Assistant Clerk Magistrate. She was employed with the Waltham District Court for over forty two years; she loved her work and all of the friends she made there.

Yvette had a passion for cooking and a love to feed her family and friends, no matter what the occasion. For years she cooked all the meals for her husband Wayne’s tailgating parties at Patriot’s games. She was famous for her gravy, swamp soup and her meatballs. She was a diehard Boston Red Sox Fan; she traveled every year and spent weeks in Fort Meyers, Florida for spring training. Yvette loved to travel, especially to Florida. In addition to her love of the Red Sox, she loved local baseball at Waltham Little Nipper Maher Baseball League. She was very involved there for over 30 years where her husband coached and organized

Yvette was predeceased by her beloved husband Wayne C. Abbott in 2014 and her dear brother Claude Veilleux in 2016.

She is survived by her devoted & loving siblings Roger Veilleux and his wife Shirley of Marlborough; Paul Veilleux and his wife Donna of Walpole; and Patricia LeBlanc and her husband Walter of Dedham; her cherished nieces & nephews, Susan (Veilleux) Williams, Gisele Veilleux, Francine Veilleux, Peter Veilleux, Michael Veilleux, Michele (LeBlanc) Hsu and Matt LeBlanc. In addition she is survived by many great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous dear friends.

Those who wish to pay their respects to Yvette and her family can do so at the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, Waltham on Monday, May 15th from 3pm until 8 pm. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Yvette's life and remember the love and friendship she shared with others at a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday morning May 16th at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, WALTHAM at 10:00 am. Burial will be private.
