He settled in Waltham after he married his beloved wife, the late Rita M. (Howley) where they raised their 6 children.

After being a truck driver for 9 years he was appointed as a reserve patrolman with the Waltham Police Department on November 23, 1955, and appointed a permanent patrolman on February 11, 1957. He remained in the traffic division until his retirement on January 22, 1988.

Ed worked many jobs before and after becoming a Waltham Police Officer. When Ed retired in 1988, he couldn’t imagine not working, and found several part-time jobs to keep him busy.

In 2001, Ed started a job as a driver, with the Marillac Residence - Sisters of Charity in Wellesley MA. Ed would drive the sisters to all their appointments in his true gentleman style. This job was a perfect fit for many years until he finally retired in 2016.

Ed loved spending time with his family and enjoyed reminiscing, sharing stories of his childhood, his various jobs which started at a young age, and raising his 6 children on Derby Street in Waltham.

When Ed wasn’t working, he did a lot of travelling, spent time at his West Dennis home on Cape Cod, and attended countless family functions celebrating special events with his ever-growing family.

After losing his wife Rita of 49 years, Ed was fortunate to have met his companion of many years Anita DelGizzi and was warmly welcomed by her children and grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his loving companion Anita, his beloved children Steven J. Lambert and his wife Laura, Linda M. Mara and the late John Mara, Brian E. Lambert and his wife Kathleen, Kevin J. Lambert and his wife Joanne, Patricia A. Bourque and her husband William, and Carol A. Ciano. He is also survived by 16 cherished grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
