Joseph B. Occhino

Of Watertown, passed away peacefully Sunday evening February 19th, 2023 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston at the age of 85.

Born on April 18, 1937 in Messina, Italy; son of the late Biagio Occhino and Rose (Venuti) Occhino. Joe was raised and educated in Italy before immigrating to the United States at the age of 18. Joe resided in Belmont from 1965 until moving to Watertown 15 years ago.

Joe had co-owned and operated with his brother the "Aetna" Corporation. He spent his career as a Master Electrician.

He was an outdoor enthusiast; he loved working in the yard and tending to his garden. In his spare time, he loved cooking and baking especially cookies. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and his friends at the beach and at the home he built in Yarmouth on Cape Cod.

Joe was predeceased by his first wife Josephine (Visalli) Occhino in January of 1999.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years Linda Marie (Petrino) Occhino; his devoted & loving children Rosemarie Commendatore and her husband Alfio of Woburn; Lilla Occhino Martell and her husband Robert of Framingham; and Biagio "Gino" Occhino and his wife Nune of Bedford; his cherished grandchildren Renee, Grazia, Dorina, Joseph, John, Giuseppe, and David; his adoring great grandchildren Matteo and Milena; and his dear brothers John Occhino and his wife Sandra of Belmont; Charles Occhino and his wife Joanne of Milton; and Guy Occhino and his wife Kristina of Attleboro. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Joseph's life and remember the love and friendship he shared with others at a Funeral Mass at saint Luke's Church, 132 Lexington Street, BELMONT on Friday morning February 24th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown.

Those who wish to pay their respects to Joe and his family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Thursday February 23rd from 4pm until 7pm.
