Obituary for William Thomas "Tom" Muise Sr.

William T. “Tom” Muise, Sr. of Newton, passed away, unexpectedly, on Monday January 23, 2023, at the age of 79.

Tom was born Saturday, March 27, 1943, in Woburn, MA. To the late Joseph William and Ruth Frances (Clark) Muise.

As a Veteran of the Vietnam era, Tom proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. He later attended Franklin Institute of Technology and became a Master Electrician. Taking great pride in his education and service, he still held electrical licenses in over 10 States.

As a long-time resident of Newton Tom was well known in the community, and in 1975, he joined the Newton Police Department, serving for 12 years, earning several commendations. Continuing to serve within his community as the past president of the Newton Lions Club (1975-76) and as an active member of the American Legion Nonantum (Post 440). Tom knew someone everywhere he went, he never forgot a face and always stopped to share a few words.

In all he accomplished in life what brought him the most joy was the love he shared with his family. He was a loving husband, a proud father, and grandfather, always telling stories and sharing in everyone’s achievements. He enjoyed spending weekends in Plymouth with his wife, Susan, and their close friends, taking trips to NH and spending all the time he could with family. He had a presence that will be missed by so many.

Predeceased by his only son, William T. Muise Jr, brothers Arthur “Butch”, Robert “Bobby”, Joseph “Joey” and his sister Sandra.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Susan D. Muise. Together they nourished a blended family, creating a loving home. He leaves to cherish his memory, children, Robin Fiorillo Licarie, Sheila Carter, Christine LaCroix and her husband Lou and Stacey Thornton and her husband Al. He was “Goobie” to 13 grandchildren; Ashley, Chelsey, Kristopher, Jessica, Nicholas, Noelle, Billy, Hannah, Emily, Aidan, Chace, Hannah & Brian and 3 great grandchildren; Jameson, Mia & Brody. Brother to Richard “Ricky”, Paul, Frank “Frankie”, Bertha, Donna, Marianne and Lisa. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to gather and remember the love and friendship Tom shared during visiting hours on Monday January 30th from 4pm-8pm in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels, located 773 Moody Street Waltham, MA.
