Obituary for Laura S. Dowdy (Mahoney)

Laura S. (Mahoney) Dowdy passed away peacefully on Monday January 2nd, 2023 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at the age of 54.

Born on August 17, 1968 in Waltham; daughter of David Mahoney and Catherine (McGonigle) Dowdy. Laura was raised in Watertown and spent the majority of her life in Framingham & Waltham.

A graduate of Saint Patrick's High School in Watertown; Laura had been employed at Home Depot in Natick and with Lifeline Medical Alert as a 911 Dispatcher for many years. 

Laura spent time helping out and working at the Boys & Girls Club; she coached soccer and was an avid sports fan, playing basketball in her younger years.

In her spare time she enjoyed playing puzzles and word games; baking, going for ice cream, sunbathing, and spending time outdoors in her garden. Most especially she loved taking care of her german shepherd "Max".

Family was always first and foremost; she was a devoted and loving wife and mother.

Laura is survived by her beloved husband whom they spent 32 years together, Paul J. Dowdy; her devoted & loving children Kaitlin L. Dowdy; Jessica L. Dowdy; and Madison Dowdy; her cherished parents David and Catherine Mahoney; and her dear sister Nicole Mahoney and the late brother David Mahoney; her mother-in-law Dominica Dowdy; sister-in-law Gail Maloney and brother-in-law Stephen Dowdy. In addition she leaves many nieces & nephews, and her beloved dog "Max".

Those who wish to pay their respects to Laura and her family can do so in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday, January 6th from 3PM until 7PM. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Laura's life and remember the love and friendship she shared with others at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning January 7th at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, WALTHAM at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery
