Obituary for Richard Michael Powers

Richard M. Powers

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning September 21st, 2022 in the comfort of his home with loving family by his side at the age of 75.

Born on April 28, 1947 in Newton; son of the late Robert Powers and Frances (Farnsworth) Powers. Richard was raised, educated and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham.

Richard attended Waltham Vocational High School; and had been employed as a Machinist and Electronic Publishing Printer throughout his life.

After graduation, Richard enlisted with the United States Marines Corps and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.

He was a sports enthusiast; he loved to watching sports especially his favorite teams the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics.

His family and his friends were always first and foremost; he loved spending time with his kids taking them on mystery car rides on Sunday's.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Linda (Daley) Powers; his devoted & loving children Christy Block and her husband Josh of Natick; Tiffany Tomeo and her husband Brian of Connecticut; Ashley Powers and her husband Ryan Healy of California; Sean Powers of Waltham; and Kayla Luongo and her husband Anthony of Palmer; his dear siblings Patricia Beaudette of Sudbury; Mary Cotter of Marlborough; Carol Venuti of Tewksbury; William Powers of Waltham; Nancy Casella of Waltham; and Betty Finley of Leominster; his mother-in-law Barbara J. Daley of Harwich; his sisters-in-law Mary Daley of Harwich, Rickey Powers of Norton; and brother-in-law Michael Daley of Framingham. In addition, he is survived by 8 cherished grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Richard's life and remember the love and friendship he shared with others at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday afternoon September 28th at 12:00 pm. Burial with United States Marines Corps Military Honors will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.

Those who wish to pay their respects to Richard and his family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday morning prior to the service from 10am until 12pm.
