Vincent J. "Jim" Papia

Of Natick, formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon September 2oth, 2022 with loving family by his side at the age of 95.

Born on September 7, 1927 in Waltham; son of the late Orazio Papia and Francesca (Tirone) Papia. Jim resided in Waltham for most of his life, for a brief period of time in Medway and most recently in Natick.

Jim attended Waltham Schools; and had been employed as a mason with the Bricklayers Allied Union Local # 15 in Waltham and #3 in Boston throughout his life.

He was a sports enthusiast; he loved to watch and play sports including being an avid golfer for years. Jim liked to sit back, relax and enjoy his occasional cigar.

Jim had been a longtime member of the Sons of Italy Dante Alighieri Lodge in Waltham and was a member of the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church in Waltham.
His family and his friends were always first and foremost; he cherished the time spent with everyone; especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years Elizabeth (Betty DiMurro) Papia; his devoted & loving children Gilda Hoopes and her husband Thomas of Wayland; Vincent J. Papia Jr. and his wife Annette of Revere; Annette Janeway and her husband Michael of Virginia; Marianne Bocchino and her husband Joseph of Plymouth; Clare Pagliazzo and her husband John of Natick; and Barbara DeVincent and her husband James of Berlin; his cherished grandchildren Elizabeth and her husband Seth, Joseph, John, Lauren and her husband Jeffery, Jordan, James and his wife Cassidy, Thomas II, Tyler, Jesse, Isabel, Nicholas, Talia, Kendall, Sophia, Sara, and Jaelin; and his dear sister Carmela Papia of Waltham. In addition, he is survived by many nieces & nephews.

Dear brother of the late Angelo, Salvatore, Theresa Gatti, Susan Giugno and Joseph.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Jim's life and remember the love and friendship he shared with others at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday afternoon September 27th at 12:00 pm.

Those who wish to pay their respects to Jim and his family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday morning prior to the service from 10am until 12pm.
