Dolphe Richard

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Monday evening, July 18th, 2022 with his loving family by his side in the comfort and care of Newton - Wellesley Palliative Care. He was 94.

Born on March 6, 1928 in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, New Brunswick, Canada; son of the late David Richard and Victorine (Allain) Richard. He was raised in New Brunswick and moved to the United States and settled in Waltham in the 1960's. Dolphe had been employed as a Contract Carpenter doing finish carpentry work for most of his life. As a young man he was a Truck Driver in Canada and in his later years worked as a Sexton for the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church.

His family and his friends were always first and foremost; he was loyal, generous, kind, and caring. He cherished the time and special occasions he spent with everyone, especially traveling back to New Brunswick every year to visit. He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed following the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. In his spare time he liked playing cards and solitaire, left right center (LCR) and Keno. Dolphe was a longtime member of the French-American Victory Club in Waltham.

Dolphe is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Rose May (Bernard) Richard; his devoted & loving daughters; Joyce Richard of Waltham; Linda Despres and her husband Gerard "Goo"; Carol Robichaud and her husband Gilles of Derry, NH; Susan Richard McNiece and her husband David of Waltham; his cherished grandchildren Casey Shields (Conor), Sarah, and E.J. (Ashley Smith); his dear siblings Regis Richard and his wife Joan of Ontario and Noella Richard of Quebec; and in-laws Alcide and Normande Allain; Lucina Jaillet and Jeannette Richard. In addition, he is survived by countless nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and dear siblings Elise Anne, Minnie, Catherine, Aurele, Lionel, Emile, Benoit and Dorilla.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Dolphe's life and remember the love and friendship he shared with others at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning July 23rd at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. For those who are unable to attend the services, you may livestream the funeral at www.HarborViewvideo.com/brasco

Those who wish to pay their respects to Dolphe and his family can do so in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday July 22nd from 3pm until 7:00pm.
