Obituary for Anthony "Tony" D'Amore Sr.

Anthony "Tony" D'Amore Sr.

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 19, 2022 in the comfort and care of the Care Dimensions Hospice Home in Lincoln at the age of 89.

Born on October 4, 1932 in Cerchio, Italy; son of the late Carmine Ludovico D'Amore and Maddalena (Ciofani) D'Amore. Tony immigrated to the United States at the age of 5 and resided on Harvard Street in Waltham with his family growing up. After meeting the love of his life Michelina, they married in 1956 and made Winter Street in Waltham their home for the rest of his life.

At the age of 17, Tony enlisted with the United States Air Force and served proudly and honorably during the Korean War. After returning from the service, he earned his GED and became a Draftsman working at Artisan Industries in Waltham. Anthony later became an entrepreneur. He owned and operated several different businesses until he found his passion in Nursing Administration. Tony was owner and administrator of Knowlton Manor Nursing Home for many years until his retirement.

Family was always first and foremost to Tony; he cherished the time he spent with family, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time he was an avid golfer at the Wayland Country Club and had been a member of the Waltham Sons of Italy for over 50 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Michelina "Mickey" (DeFeilippis) D'Amore; his devoted & loving daughters Doreen Buchinski and her husband Bruce of Lexington; and Deborah Mola and her husband Joseph of Bedford; his cherished grandchildren Brad & Mikaela Buchinski, Jenna and Michael D'Amore, Sophia and Madalena Mola, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving son Anthony D'Amore Jr. and his dear siblings Gaetano "Guy" D'Amore and Giovina "Joan" (D'Amore) Composto.

Those who wish to pay their respects to Anthony and his family can do so in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, Waltham on Tuesday May 24th from 10am until 11:30 am. The family asks that those attending be mindful of social gatherings and the recent Covid surge, however masks are optional. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Following visitation hours, Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Anthony's life at a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday May 24th at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 12:00 p.m. Burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
