Joan E. Campbell, 88 Of Wakefield, MA. passed away peacefully at The Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, MA. on April 18th, 2022 with her loving family by her side, and on this day, Easter Sunday 57 years ago she gave birth to twins.
Born Tuesday, February 06, 1934, in Cambridge, MA. the beloved daughter of the late William H. McGinness and Anne McGinness (Maytum).
Graduating from Cambridge High and Latin School in 1951, Joan was a member of the Drill Team, the Athletic Committee, and was a Red Cross Representative. Growing up, she and her siblings spent their summers in Hull, MA. Where they frequently spent their time on Nantasket Beach and at Paragon Park. For many decades thereafter Nantasket Beach was a Memorial Day Tradition with siblings and their children. Joan met her former late husband David in High School and they were married on November 5th, 1955.Joan was a homemaker for many years before returning to the workforce. She worked at Mass Bay Community College for years, allowing her the opportunity to have school vacation off to be with her children. AT&T Western Electric in Watertown and in later years, she worked with two of her brothers at the local 12 Plumbers & Gas Fitters Union in Boston until her retirement at age 65.
Her biggest passion was caring for her family. She loved to dote on her grandchildren and looked forward to holidays and family gatherings. She truly loved being part of a large family.
Predeceased by her son Alec and brothers John and Robert.
Joan is survived by 6 of her children. Kathryn Lunderville of Wakefield, MA., Philip, and the late Sharon Campbell of Leominster, Douglas Campbell of Danvers, MA. Bruce Campbell of Pompano Beach FL., Eric and Jackie Campbell of Sterling, MA., Susan and Joseph DeVelis of Boxford, MA.Her sister Carolyn & the late Ernest Root of Nashua, N.H., Brother William & Sharon McGinness of Quincy, Brother David & Beverly McGinness of Concord, Her Sister-in-laws Esther McGinness of Waltham, MA. Lucille McGinness of Dover, MA. Her loving Grandchildren James, Michael, Richard, Alexander, Matthew, Jonathan, Brooke, Ryan, Daniel, Joshua, and Great Grandson Dylan.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather and remember the love Joan shared during Visiting hours on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 from 10 am – 12 pm in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels, Located at 773 Moody Street Waltham, MA. Followed by a celebration of her life beginning at 12 pm. Parking attendants on duty.
