Obituary for Michael Augustus "Mike" Owens

Dr. Michael Augustus Owens

Of Waltham, MA passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 3rd, 2022 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 67.

Born on July 31, 1954 in North Plainfield, New Jersey; son of the late Maurice A. Owens and Ann Casserly Owens. He was raised in North Plainfield, NJ. Mike graduated from North Plainfield High School and furthered his education at Duke University where he received his undergraduate degree. Mike went on to receive his Medical Degree from Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He then completed his internship at Medical College of Virginia and his residency in radiology at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey followed by a Fellowship in radiology in Boston.

Mike worked as a Radiologist throughout his career at Boston University Medical Center in Boston; Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell and Cape Cod Hospital. While working at Cape Cod Hospital it allowed him to spend time at his home in Yarmouth throughout the years.

Mike was passionate about his work; but his family and his friends were always first and foremost; he was loyal, generous, kind, and caring. He cherished the time and special occasions he spent with everyone. When not at work, Mike enjoyed traveling, golfing, skiing, playing the keyboard, guitar and listening to music, especially everything "Beatles"

He will be missed dearly by those that had the privilege of knowing him and calling him a friend.

He is predeceased by his parents, Maurice A. Owens and Ann (Casserly) Owens.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Antrim-Owens of Waltham, MA; his cherished daughter Kelly J. McIntyre and her husband Michael of Westwood; proud grandfather of Ryan, Meghan, Brianna, Michael "Mikey" and McKenzie; and his dear sister Patricia Owens of North Plainfield, NJ; his cousin Mary Fran Casserly and niece Elizabeth; and loving extended family his sister-in-law Lois OBrion, Paula Sutherland and brother-in-law John Paul "Jack" Antrim. In addition, he is survived by his furry best friend, his cat "Jasper", and countless close friends.

in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Michael's memory to the MSPCA @mspca.org or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org

Out of genuine concern for those we love and care so much about, no funeral or memorial service is immediately planned at this time. We hope to gather in the future to honor and remember the love and friendship Mike shared with those he touched at gathering when it is safer to do so.
