William J. "Bill" Hines
Of Waltham, passed away Monday June 7, 2021 at Newton Wellesley Hospital at the age of 69.
Born on August 1, 1951 in Boston; son of the late Martin J. Hines and Mary (Johnstone) Hines. Bill resided in Waltham most of his life.
A graduate of Waltham High School; following high school Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Mary's Parish in Waltham; where he also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. After his retirement he enjoyed painting, putting puzzles together, cooking, following the Boston Red Sox and he loved to host and entertain family and friends.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Louise "Chickie" (McCourt) Hines; his devoted & loving son: Waltham Firefighter William J. Hines II and his wife Julie (Barry) of Waltham; his three cherished grandchildren: Mason, Liam and Ronan Hines; and his brother Michael Hines of New Hampshire as well as many nieces, nephews, close friends, and extended family who loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear siblings; Barbara Cappoccia, Constance “Connie” Law, Rosemary Leigh, Martin Hines and Daniel W. Hines.
Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Bill’s life and remember the love he shared with those he touched during a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church located, 133 School St. Waltham, MA on Monday, June 14th at 10:00 a.m. Services will conclude with United States Navy Military Honors in recognition of Bill’s faithful & honorable service to our Country.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701
