Obituary for Marie D "Diane" Cannistraro (Yancey)

Marie D. "Diane" (Yancey) Cannistraro

Of Waltham, passed away on May 11, 2021 in the peace and comfort of Durgin Pines Senior Living in Kittery, Maine at the age of 92.

Born on March 1, 1929 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina; daughter of the late George W. Yancey and Mary E. (Booth) Yancey, she had been a longtime resident of Waltham before moving to Florida some 25 years ago. Most recently after the passing of her husband she resided close to her family in Maine.

Diane worked in High Tech throughout her career. Her last job was building prototypes at Keltron Corporation at the Watch Factory in Waltham. Before Keltron she worked at Barry Wright and Clevite.

Diane loved her family more than anything else in the whole world. She was happiest during the holidays and family gatherings when she was surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She believed that her crowning achievement was her family. That love of her family was the only thing that mattered in life and her legacy was to leave a close knit, loving family who will miss her dearly.

In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting her very popular scrubbies, cards, water aerobics and tai chi.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Francis G. Cannistraro in 2016 and her loving son the late Francis S. Cannistraro.

Diane is survived by her devoted and loving children, Marie DeProfio and husband Steve of Waltham; Jo-Ann Cucinotta and husband Joel of York Maine; David Cannistraro and wife Gail of Littleton; her dear daughter-in-law Marilene Cannistraro of Porto Alegre, Brazil. In addition she leaves 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two nieces and one nephew.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Diane’s Life, to remember the love she shared with those she touched in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM Friday morning, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. Her burial will follow at Newton Cemetery.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time; and for those who wish to pay their respects to Diane and her family can do so during Visiting Hours on Thursday June 10th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
