Gloria P. (DeMarco) Cercone

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully in the comfort and care of her son’s home on Wednesday morning, May 19, 2021, to be reunited with her beloved husband just several months after his passing in February. She was 87 years old.

Born on March 29, 1934 in Waltham; she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Delia (Lupo) DeMarco; Gloria was born, raised and educated in Waltham.

A graduate of Waltham High School Class of 1951, Gloria had been employed as a bookkeeper at Gardencrest Apartments in Waltham for 34 years before her retirement from Home Properties.

She married the love of her life, Nicholas R. Cercone, in 1958 and raised her family in Waltham.

Gloria was a lifelong member of the Waltham Garden Club but her true passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an outstanding cook, and also enjoyed baking, playing cards, and watching the Red Sox. Gloria also loved her lunch dates with her sister JoAnne and could be spotted at various restaurants and shops in Waltham and beyond.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Nicholas R. “Nick” Cercone on February 2, 2021.

Gloria is survived by her loving & devoted children; Lynn Camelio of Miami, FL; Nicholas R. “Nicky” Cercone, Jr. and his wife Suzanne (Trumbour) of Waltham; John Cercone of Waltham; Peter Cercone and his wife Cindy (LaForest) of Stow; Marc Cercone of Marlborough; and Cara Cercone and her life partner Tina Gentile of Marlborough; her cherished grandchildren Salvatore, Maria, Nicholas III, Zachary, Matthew, John Jr. “Jack”, Bridget, Alexandra, Shaye, Jennifer, Emily, and Lindsay; her adoring great grandchildren Isabelle, John “Jack”, Hadley, Taeo, and Luca; and her dear sisters JoAnne Gallitano and her husband George of Waltham and Barbara Mangini and her husband Victor of Gardner. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, and her extended family who loved her dearly.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time; and for those who wish to pay their respects to Gloria and her family can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal, State, and Local guidelines in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA., on Sunday May 23rd from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Following the Archdiocese of Boston guidelines, family & friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Gloria’s life and remember the love she shared with those she touched at a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Road, Waltham on Monday morning May 24th at 10:00 a.m. followed by her burial at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
