Emile LeBlanc, age 95, a 50 year resident of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully in his home in Woburn on April 30th, 2021.

Emile was born in Saint Antoine, New Brunswick Canada, and led a life filled with determination, foresight, and achievement throughout his 95 years on earth. A man of great physical as well as inner strength, Émile was a living example of the value of hard-work to his seven children, and to the 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who called him “Pépère”.

With his wife Anna Légèr LeBlanc by his side for 66 years, Emile left his small town in coastal New Brunswick, Canada for better opportunities in Toronto, where he became a valued member of the Toronto Transit Commission. Focused on providing the best possible life for their growing family, Emile and Anna emigrated to Waltham, MA in 1955 for a job prospect. Emile molded that opportunity into a successful career as an auto mechanic and owner of several auto service businesses. Together with his son Don, he earned high praise for providing years of quality service at Emil’s Garage on Main Street in Waltham (now Don’s Service Center). After retirement, Emile and Anna made their happiest memories at their seaside home in Cocagne NB, connecting with Canadian family members and enjoying visits from their children and grandchildren. In recent years, they were full time residents of Woburn, MA.

With an impressive memory for detail and an in-depth knowledge of history and current events, Emile was a natural-born storyteller, conversing on any subject, serious or light-hearted. He was well-spoken, an expert on the history of Acadia and the Maritime Provinces, and a passionate fan of the Montreal Canadiens. With a strong faith foundation, Emile and Anna made sure their children received a Catholic education, and as a family they prayed the rosary regularly, especially on the long car trips to and from Canada in the family station wagon.

Emile will be lovingly remembered for his fortitude in making life-changing decisions, his kind and grateful heart, his quick wit, and his immense pride in his family.

Emile was the son of Lucianne Belliveau LeBlanc and Henry LeBlanc of Saint Antoine, New Brunswick. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Anna Légèr LeBlanc in 2017 and his son-in-law David Bergstrom in 2019. He is survived by their seven children, Don and his wife Jean of Waltham, Linda Lazaro and her husband Rick of Lancaster, MA, Paul and his wife Kathy of Hingham, MA, Theresa Bergstrom of Cambridge, MA, Carol Docherty and her husband Ken of Framingham, MA, Diane Green and her husband Steve of Belmont, and Denise Stabile and her husband Steve of North Andover, MA. He leaves 12 beloved grandchildren, Ryan Lazaro, Derek Lazaro, Jill Lazaro Frost, Caitlin LeBlanc Reichart, Bridget LeBlanc Nims, Paul LeBlanc jr., Scott Bergstrom, Annelise Bergstrom, Nicholas Docherty, Stephen Stabile jr,. Julianna Stabile, Ashley Green, and eight great-grandchildren, Will Lazaro, Mia Lazaro, Emma Lazaro, Anthony Lazaro, Sophie Lazaro, Wyatt Frost, Eleanor Reichart, and Theodore Nims. Emile is also survived by his older brother Ariste LeBlanc of NB, Canada, and predeceased by his brother Edmond LeBlanc and his sister Yvonne LeBlanc Allain. He leaves many treasured cousins, nieces, and nephews in Canada.

Family & friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Emile's life and remember the love he shared with those he touched at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Thursday May 6th at 12:00 p.m. His burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Dear Diane,
I was saddened to hear of the loss of your dear Dad and my kind friend.
It was always a pleasure to see him, and a joy when he would sing to me
as he did to you as a child. He would always speak of you as we share the
same name. He will be remembered fondly.

Keeping you and your family in my prayers and wishing you all peace.
