Obituary for Dean Lee Curtis
Dean Lee Curtis, 62, of Andover, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on April 12th, 2021. He is survived by his wife and soulmate Rita (Muraca) Curtis. They were high school sweethearts and best friends, together for 45 years and married for 32.
A steadfast and devoted son to Valerie (Kay) Curtis and the late David Curtis, Dean’s most closely held values were family and loyalty.
Dean was an avid fisherman, both freshwater and saltwater, who fished every chance he could get. He loved the outdoors, and his spirit of adventure and exploration was remarkable. His passion for the sport and wealth of knowledge made him quite a few lasting fishing buddies.
He was the beloved father of Elizabeth Curtis, Leah Andrews and her husband Gregory, and Francesca Curtis. His guiding presence in their lives will be dearly missed. He was also the adoring grandfather of Oliver Dean Andrews, his namesake and favorite little buddy.
Dean is also survived by his brother Guy Curtis and his wife Kathy, and his sister Laurie Curtis Wittrock and her husband Gunther, to whom he was a friend and support.
He was a quiet role model and confidant to dozens of nieces, nephews, and in-laws, as well as the families of his many friends - by blood, by marriage, and by neither, he treated them all the same. A glazier and member of local union 1044 for over 40 years, he was a respected tradesman, well-known and liked by numerous business associates and friends.
His family will carry on his legacy of patience, faithfulness and dependability, and take strength from his example as a man of extraordinary character and integrity whose life touched an uncountable list of people.
