Of Lexington, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon April 6th, 2021 in his residence at the age of 69.
Born on October 10, 1951 in Waltham; son of the late William W. Yorston Jr. and Angelina M. (Scichilone) Yorston. Billy was raised and resided in Waltham for many years before moving to Lexington in 1985.
A graduate of Waltham High School with the Class of 1969; Billy had been employed with the Town of Lexington Department of Public Works for several years; and had worked as a Supervisor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) until his retirement.
He served proudly and honorably with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. BLAKELY FF-1072. He was received the Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star.
He was a longtime member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post #156 in Waltham.
Billy loved to read and educate himself; he was a fountain of knowledge and definitely a sports history buff. He shared his knowledge of some many different topics with everyone around him. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing in his spare time; but Billy's greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family, especially his nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He adored his family, and they adored him. He will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted & loving sister Francine S. Marini of Newton; his cherished niece & nephews, Alycia Marini and her fiance' Patrick; Rocco Marini and his wife Christine; and Michael Marini and his wife Kelly; and his adoring great nieces & nephews, Rocco, Mary, Ella, Rheya, Desmond, James, Matthew and Emily. In addition he is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and numerous dear friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Billy’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM this Sunday, April 11th at 3:00 p.m.
For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time; and for those who wish to pay their respects to Billy and his family can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal, State and Local guidelines during Visiting Hours prior to the services on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Due to the on-going pandemic, we ask that friends please be mindful and respectful of current limitations in regard to social gatherings.
