Obituary for Elsa Mercedes Palma Yepez

Elsa Mercedes Palma Yepez of Waltham, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 84.

Elsa was born on December 7, 1936, in Manta, Ecuador to the late Juan Manuel Palma Vera and Dora Inez Yepez. She lived in Ecuador until the 1980’s when she moved to the United States to help her daughter raise her grandchildren. Years later, Elsa passed her United States citizen exam which she regarded as one of her greatest accomplishments.

Elsa was a devout Catholic regularly attending mass and praying to the rosary. She was an avid crafter and sewer making gifts and trinkets for loved ones for every occasion. She loved spending time around her family and friends and enjoyed dancing and listening to music and traveling.

Elsa is survived by her six children; Luis Augusto Alvarado Palma, Rosa Tulmira Alvarado Palma, Francisco Rafael Alvarado Palma, Elsa Susana Alvarado Palma, Cesar Augusto Alvarado Palma, and Gustavo Alfredo Alvarado Palma; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings; Nila palma Yepez de Canizares, Ing Hugo Palma Yepez, Galo Palma Yepez, Jorge Palma Yepez, Marlene Palma Yepez de Ruperti, Gloria Palma Yepez de Fager, Marina Palma Yepez, Nelson Palma Zavala, Martha Palma Zavala; as well as many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels in Waltham on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Funeral Service will immediately follow at the Mary Catherine Chapel.
