Obituary for Anna Maria Picone (LaCava)

Anna Maria "Mary" (LaCava) Picone

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Belmont Manor Nursing Home. She was 94.

Born in Newton, Massachusetts to the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Collura) LaCava, she has been a lifelong resident of Waltham.

For many years Mary owned and operated with her husband Summor's Restaurant on Main Street in Waltham until the 1980's.

Family was the most important aspect of her life; she loved to be with her family and friends, who were all treated like family. Mrs. Picone was a talented cook who also loved to bake. Through the years she enjoyed bowling in a league at the Wal-Lex, playing cards and traveling with her husband Joe.

She was a longtime member of the Regina Margherita Di Savoia Sons of Italy Lodge # 1402 in Waltham.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Picone in 2018.

She is survived by her devoted children Stephen Picone and his wife Mary Hansen of Waltham; Sal Picone and his wife Gale (Cargill) of Scituate; Nancy Matthews and her husband Terry of Addison, TX; and Joseph M. Picone and his wife Carmela (Arena) of Belmont; her dear sister Frances (LaCava) Raczkowski of Waltham; and her cherished grandchildren Stephen Picone of Waltham, Andrea Grych and her husband Christian of Marlborough, Michael Picone of Fitchburg, Matthew Picone and his partner Rebecca McLaughlin of Waltham, Edward Fenochietti of Waltham, Gina Steele and her husband Dan of Scituate, Jason Picone of Portland, OR, AnnMarie McLaughlin and her husband Tommy of Woburn, and Joseph Picone of Warwick, RI. In addition she is survived by 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, those who wish to pay their respects to Anna Maria and her family can do so in accordance with CDC, federal, state, and local guidelines at the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA, on Sunday, March 21st from 2 - 5 pm. We ask that friends please be mindful and respectful of the current limitations on social gatherings. Following the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Boston, family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Anna Maria's life and remember the love she shared with those she touched at a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 311 River Street, Waltham on Monday, March 22nd at 10:00 am. Her burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
