Nancy Leah (McGirr) Aucoin, 89, of Marlboro, formerly of Brewster and Waltham, passed away Monday, March 15th, after a period of declining health.

Beloved wife of the late Wilfred Gerard (Gerry) Aucoin with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Susan Jakubaszek (Richard) of Hudson and David Aucoin of Waltham. She is survived by her sister Jane Mayo of Orleans, and many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Waltham, she was the daughter of Robert G. McGirr and Elsie (Sallstrom) Philpott. She was a graduate of the Class of 1949 of Waltham High School. At the time of her retirement, she was employed as an office manager and bookkeeper at Fab-Braze Corporation in Waltham.

As a young mother, Nancy was an active member of the Banks School PTA and a member of the Waltham Junior Women’s Club.

Nancy was a talented landscape gardener who spent hours tending to her outdoor surroundings, creating visually pleasing planting areas and curbside rhododendron borders. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed the challenges of tackling the daily crossword puzzles in The Boston Globe. In retirement she tried her hand at basket making, crafting multiple Nantucket baskets, which were her favorite. She also took painting classes, with a preference for watercolors.

Nancy was predeceased by her son, Robert G. Aucoin, and her siblings Richard Wehage, Frederick Wehage and William McGirr.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, all services will be private. A memorial service to honor Nancy’s life will be held in the near future, with date and place to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Brasco & Son, Waltham. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name may be made to Buddy Dog Humane Society, Inc., 151 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776.

Dear Susan and David,
Diane and I send our sincere condolences on your Mom's passing. She was one of my mom's best friends when I was growing up. It was great to see Nancy at Paint Misbehavin' in Hudson and at my retirement home in Harwich this past year. Find solace that your mom and dad are together now.

Dear Dave and Susan, So sorry to hear the sad news of your Mother's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences in this most difficult time. Though I had not seen your Mom in many years, Dave has always kept me up to date on how she was doing and I know that you both will miss her very much as will everyone who knew her.

Dear Susie and David, May deepest sympathy to both of you on the loss of your Mom. I am glad I got to meet her again at your Dad's service. Susie, you should be proud of the loving tenderness and care that you provided for your Mom during her decline in health. Prayers for both of you and wishing you peace at this time of deep and personal sadness.
