Of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday February 9th, 2021 in Newton - Wellesley Hospital at the age of 75.

Born on June 26, 1945 in St. Marie, New Brunswick, Canada; son of the late Roderick McDonald and Dora (Colette) McDonald.
Bernie came to the United States in 1963 and has been a resident of Waltham ever since.
He had a passion for carpentry and had been employed in the building construction industry throughout his life.
Bernie loved to be the life of a party always the first and last on the dance floor. He loved dancing.
He is survived by his children Bernard "Bernie" McDonald Jr. and Ann McDonald Elliot both of Waltham; his siblings Donald McDonald, Bernice Savoie, Leo McDonald, Roger McDonald and Jean Paul McDonald In addition he is survived by 7 Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Father of the late Douglas W. "Dougie" McDonald and brother of the late Normand and Harvey McDonald.
For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time; and for those who wish to pay their respects to Bernie and his family can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal, State and Local guidelines during Visiting Hours prior to the services in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Sunday Feb. 28th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Service in celebration of Bernard's life will follow at 4:00 p.m. Due to the on-going pandemic, we ask that friends please be mindful and respectful of current limitations in regard to social gatherings.
