Obituary for Andrew Joseph "Andre" Caissie

Andrew "Andre" Joseph Caissie

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Saturday February 13th, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by those he loved at the age of 92.

Born on May 21, 1928 in Rogersville, NB, Canada; son of the late Jude Caissie and Celina (Gallant) Caissie. Andre was raised in Canada and came to the United States as a young man, residing in Waltham for most of his life.

He married the love of his life 65 years ago, Geraldine (Caissie) Caissie; and raised their family in Waltham.

Andre was a Tree Surgeon throughout his life; he began his own business in 1963, and retired to years of traveling between homes in Rogersville, NB and St. Petersburg, FL.

Andrew was a faithful man with a strong faith in his God; and although he was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Waltham, you would find him, daily, wherever he was at the time, making his way to a morning mass. Up until his last days, he was deep in prayer. When in Waltham, Andrew rarely missed his daily walk down Moody St. On any night you would find him playing a game of solitaire, and in his younger years, you would find him every weekend on the dance floor at the French Club and even at his granddaughter’s wedding at 90 years old. When in Canada, even this past summer at the age of 92, you could find him on his knees every morning, picking wild blueberries and hating to leave any behind. He would bring them home to his wife, who would make his favorite blueberry muffins. If you ask any of the grandchildren about visiting Canada, you will most likely hear their favorite memory being “getting rides on the four-wheeler with “Pepere”. He had a love of life like no other!

For years Andre had been an active member of French American Victory Club and the Rogersville’s Association du Monument Notre Dame de L’Assomption.

Andre is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Geraldine (Caissie) Caissie; his devoted & loving children Ronald Caissie (wife Tracy) of Nottingham, NH; Vincent Caissie of Waltham, MA; Paula Magee (husband Tom) of Westminster, MA; and Andrea Guelli (husband Ray) of Rockport, MA; his cherished 13 Grandchildren: Melissa, Victor, Danielle, Veronique, Justine, Gabrielle, Kelsey, Erin, Kate, Abby, Carly, Andrew, Jack; and his adoring great grandchildren Dominic, Tyler, Brianna, Dylan, Amelia, Cory, Zoey. In addition, he is survived by many nieces & nephews.

He was reunited in heaven with his loving son Victor “Vic” Caissie on the same day four years later February 13th.

Dear brother of his sister Lucie Richard and brother Alfred Caissie and predeceased by his siblings Edgar Caissie, Marie Thebeau, Zita Despres, Gerald Caissie and Emile Caissie.
