Lawrence "Larry" Furnari
Of Belmont, passed away peacefully Sunday December 27th, 2020 at Lahey Clinic Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington at the age of 95.
Born on February 7, 1925 in Lawrence; beloved son of the late Salvatore Furnari and Agatha (Coltraro) Furnari. Born and raised in Lawrence, Larry moved to Belmont after his marriage in 1951.
Larry had been employed as a Machinist throughout his life; working at the Watertown Arsenal, the Charlestown Navy Yard and later in his career at E.R.T. Environmental Research and Technology.
He served proudly and honorably with the United States Army 409th Infantry Regiment during World War II. Larry had been a longtime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Waverly Post #1272 in Belmont.
Larry had a love for Ballroom Dancing with his wife. They had been active members for years with Massachusetts Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association.
Over the years Larry and Angie were active members of the Everett Senior Center attending numerous dancing events and also the Belmont Beech Street Senior Center. Larry was a regular at the Belmont Senior Center and loved conversing with others as well as participating in numerous social events.
Larry had an outgoing personality, always willing to share a story and make a friend. He was a Mr. Fix It in many ways, he had a natural talent of learning how to do and fix just about anything. He worked on house projects and automobiles just to stay busy in his spare time. He loved to read, and keep in contact with others using the computer sending emails and skyping.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Angelina C. (Puntonio) Furnari in 2015.
Larry is survived by his devoted & loving children Cathy Piccolo and her husband Dennis of Burlington; Lawrence "Larry" Furnari Jr. of Sterling Heights, MI; and Linda Furnari of Belmont; his cherished grandchildren Karen Polcaro and her husband Gino; Lauren Porter and her husband Ryan; Catie Piccolo and finance' Brian Cerullo; and his adoring great grandchildren Anthony and Julia Polcaro, Nathan and Owen Porter. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by 5 sisters and a brother.
Out of genuine concern for those we love and care deeply about during this difficult time throughout the world and in our community; family gathered to celebrate Larry's life and remember the love he shared with those he touched at a private Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial in Waltham. His burial with United States Army Military Honors in recognition of his faithful and honorable service to our country followed at Belmont Cemetery.
