Obituary for Wayne Christopher Brooks

Wayne Christopher Brooks

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Saturday morning February 6th, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 68.

Born on July 14, 1952 in Waltham; beloved son of Priscilla E. (Ford) Brooks and the late Lawrence Brooks, Wayne has been a lifelong resident of Waltham.

Wayne graduated from Waltham High School with the Class of 1970; and had been employed as a Truck Driver throughout his life. He owned and operated a trucking business "Brooks Trucking" for a period of time before going to work for M.J. Pirolli & Sons Inc.

While traveling in 1979, he stopped at the Tally House Restaurant in White River Junction, Vermont where he met a waitress; she would be the love of his life and soulmate. He married Rosemarie Murphy in 1980 at the First Baptist Church in Waltham, MA; they shared 41 years together.

He loved nature from an early age and was an avid Boy Scout earning his way to the top rank of Eagle Scout. Later in life he would become a scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America Troop #263. Wayne was a natural outdoors man; he loved nature and being outdoors, whether that was in the woods while camping or driving his own boat on Cape Cod. He found his "happy place" while spending time camping at his trailer at Oxbow Campground, located in tranquil Deering, New Hampshire. He was considered camp security while driving around on his golf cart and enjoyed helping the campground owner with various maintenance tasks.

Wayne was a huge NASCAR fan; as a young man he raced stock cars and funny cars. He loved to travel and Las Vegas was one of his favorite places. In his spare time he enjoyed watching television shows like "M.A.S.H."

His family and his friends were always first and foremost; he cherished the time spent with everyone; especially his camping family and best buddy Gary. He had a special way about him that attracted friends from all over. He will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to call him a friend.

He is survived by his devoted & loving wife of 41 years Rosemarie Ann (Murphy) Brooks; his cherished children Christopher Brooks; Patrick Brooks and his fiancee Alyssa; Shawn Brooks and his wife Samantha and Kaitalyn (Brooks) Brown and her husband Joseph; his beloved mother Priscilla E. (Ford) Brooks; and his dear brother Roger Brooks and his wife Maureen. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
