Maria (Tirone) Cimino
Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Saturday evening November 21, 2020 at Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waltham at the age of 97.
Born on December 1, 1922 in Castellana Grotte, Italy; daughter of the late Alfonso and Maria Tirone. Maria immigrated to the United States with her family on April 1, 1962 and has been a resident of Waltham for most of her life.
Maria became a widow at a very young age with 8 children; her strong faith in her God sustained her through life's challenges. She devoted her life to providing and caring for her family. It was her amazing spirit and generous nature that always came through to others. She was an amazing cook and loved family gatherings, being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In her spare time she enjoyed walking, knitting, and most especially playing bingo.
She was a devoted active parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish Community in Waltham. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society for years serving in different capacities.
Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband Carmello Cimino in 1962.
She is survived by her devoted & loving children Antonietta Cardinale of New York; Calogero"Charles" Cimino of Waltham; Maria Mills of Waltham; Alfonso Cimino of Waltham; Concetta Napolitani of Nevada; Salvatore Cimino of Waltham; Celestina "Celeste" Cimino of Waltham and Gracella Perone of Connecticut; dear sister of Asuntina Arone of Sicily and Francesco Tirone of Sicily. In addition she is survived by 16 cherished grandchildren, 16 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, and for those who wish to pay their respects to Maria and her family can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal, State and local guidelines in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA., on Monday Nov. 30th from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham on Monday at 11:30 a.m. followed by her burial at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
In LIEU of flowers expressions of sympathy and donations may be made in her memory to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
