Obituary for Robert Chase Brackett and Lillis Clark Brackett

Robert Chase Brackett, October 10, 1926 – October 22, 2020
Lillis Clark Brackett, September 21, 1926 – July 7, 2018

Lillis and Robert met at Iowa State College in 1946, and were married in 1949, in Western Springs, Illinois. They lived in Itasca, Illinois until their retirement in 1992 when they moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina. They were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Lillis was the daughter of Ridie Louise Guppey Clark and William Wells Clark. She was an accomplished seamstress and a Master Gardener. She taught Home Economics, including Nutrition, Cooking, and Sewing. She was active in P.E.O. for her entire adult life, serving on several committees and as chapter president. She was a member of the Piscataqua Pioneers and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Following her retirement, she volunteered with English as a Second Language, Meals on Wheels, and Reading Buddies.

Robert was the son of May Baker Chase Brackett and Robert Emerson Brackett. He worked at Zenith Radio Corporation for nearly 40 years and served in APICS. He was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts, AARP Tax Aide, and Apple Country Woodcrafters. His hobbies were primarily woodworking and genealogy. He was a member of the Limington Historical Society and numerous other Genealogical and Historical societies in Maine and North Carolina, as well as the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, the Mid-West Tool Collector’s Association, and the Early American Industries Association.

They are survived by Lillis’s brother, William Clark and wife Barbara; by their four children: Mary Coffin and husband Peter, Wax Brackett and wife Marie, Robert Brackett and wife Debbie, and Margaret Hafer and husband Lance; by four grandchildren: Peter Coffin, Theo Brackett and wife Kerri, Chase Brackett and wife Christina, and Rob Brackett; and by one great grandson Russell William Brackett.

Out of genuine concern for those we love and care deeply about during this difficult time throughout the world and in our community; family & friends will gather to celebrate Robert & Lillis, and remember the loved they shared with those they touched at a private Graveside Funeral Service in Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.

The Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home of WALTHAM assisted the family with arrangements.
