Obituary for Peter "Pete" Sylvester

Pete Sylvester

Of Marlborough died October 4, 2020 at Belmont Manor after a courageous battle with dementia with Lewy bodies. He was 65.

Pete was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the elder of two sons of the late Alan and Irene (Sally) Sylvester.

After graduating from Marlborough High School in 1973. Pete pursued a career that ranged from working in the automobile industry to becoming a stockbroker at Charles Schwab and Paine Webber.

He was a ranked chess player and an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. A born athlete, he often said he missed his calling, as he always wanted to be a professional baseball player.

In spite of the physical limitations caused by his illness over the past few years, Pete never lost his deep sense of caring, kindness, loyalty and even humor.

His spirit proved to be stronger than the dementia's hold on him, and his bravery was an inspiration to his family, friends, and caregivers.

He is survived by his former wife, Denise M. Bolt, his beloved son and daughter, Peter M. Sylvester and Victoria A. Lemay, his grandson, Logan Lemay and his brother Michel A. Sylvester of Marlborough.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service in celebration of Pete’s Life, at Calvary Cemetery 250 High St. in Waltham on Friday, October 9th at 12:00 pm. For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, and for those who wish to pay their respects to Pete and his family, please do so in accordance with CDC, Federal and State guidelines by wearing a mask, keeping a social distance, refraining from hugging and handshaking of any kind.
