Obituary for Gerald Alderic Bourgeois

Gerald A. Bourgeois

Of Fitchburg formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully Sunday morning July 19th, 2020 after a period of declining health at UMass Memorial Health Alliance of Leominster at the age of 86.

Born on July 14, 1934 in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada; son of the late Alderic Bourgeois and Madeleine (Allain) Bourgeois. Gerald immigrated to the United States in 1962 and resided in Waltham for 50 years before moving to Fitchburg to live with his daughter 4 years ago.

Gerald was employed as a Union Carpenter with the Carpenter's Union Local #328 throughout his life.

He was a faithful parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Church in Waltham for years before it closed and then at Sacred Heart Church in Waltham.

Gerald was an active and devoted member of the French-American Victory Club.

In his spare time he had a passion for fishing and enjoyed traveling. His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Maria (Allain) Bourgeois; his loving and devoted children Cecile Arsenault and her husband Donald and their children Renelle of Richibuctou-Village, New Brunswick and Joel Arsenault (Jason Starratt) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; Denise Bourgeois of Fitchburg; Gisele Bourgeois and her husband Paul Nowlan of Westminister and daughter Lyndsey of Boston; Andre Bourgeois and his late wife Magella of Waltham and their children Micheal and his wife Lyndsey of Fitchburg and Charlene Bourgeois (Chaliita JLyn and daughter Khiana) of Hudson; Paul Bourgeois and his wife Marianne and their children Nicole, Emily and Maggie of Fitchburg; and Linda Nowlan and her husband Joseph and their children Jennifer of Gardner and Matthew Nowlan (Angela Przymusik) of Hubbardston; his cherished great great grandchildren Michael Anthony Bourgeois and Jayden Rae Arsenault-Starratt; and his dear brothers Lionel Bourgeois and his wife Helena of Framingham and the late Alfred Bourgeois and his wife Alberte of St.Joseph de Kent, New Brunswick. In addition he is survived by many nieces & nephews.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, and for those who wish to pay their respects to his family; can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal and State guidelines in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday July 24th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
