Obituary for Helen Jane Ellison (Flynn)

Helen Jane (Flynn) Ellison, of Waltham formerly of Cambridge, died Tuesday morning December 27, 2023 at the Care One Nursing Facility in Concord after a lengthy illness. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Lester and Corrine (LeBlanc) Flynn, she was born, raised, and educated in Cambridge attending Saint Mary’s High School. She had been a Waltham resident for the past 25 years.

Mrs. Ellison had been employed as clerk with the Middlesex County Probate Court working at the East Cambridge Probate Courthouse.

A devout Catholic, she was a daily communicant. She could often be seen walking throughout her neighborhoods in Waltham and Cambridge.

Mr. Ellison was widowed 1990 from David E. Ellison, Sr. whom she married in 1956.

She is survived by her children, Marlene Ellison, Susan Ellison, David E. Ellison II and his wife Collette, Bonnie Goodwin and her husband Robert, Julie Ellison and Melissa Berry and her husband Michael, her sisters, Alice Fitts, Ann Bray and Joan Reid, her dear friends, Carol, Irene, Joan and Heidi.
She is also survived by her 24 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ellison was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Dell’Lio and Margaret Costa and her brothers, Francis, Paul, Leo and William Flynn.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects to the Ellison Family on Saturday morning, December 31st from 8-10AM in the Mary Catherine Chapel of the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Helen’s life at Saint Mary Church, School Street, Waltham at 10:30AM. Private interment at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham will be held at a later date.
