Richard “Richie” Orifice, 60
Of Waltham died peacefully on May 18, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with Covid-19 virus.
Richie is survived by his beloved wife, Robin and stepchildren, Meghan Elizabeth Murphy and Eric Sean Murphy, both of Fitchburg, MA. Richie leaves behind eight siblings Sebastian “Buster” (Cathy) Orifice of Enfield, CT, Robert “Bobby” (Carla) Orifice of Woburn (formerly of Lexington), MA, James “Jimmy” (Karen) Orifice of LaGrange, ME, Teresa “Teri” (Clarence) Nowlan of New Brunswick, Canada, Reginald “Reggie” (Anna) Orifice of Chester, NH, Anthony “Tony” (Sue) Orifice of Dayton, ME, Mary (Bob) Murray of Bluffton, SC and David (Margie) Orifice of Shrewsbury, MA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Richie was born July 17th, 1959 in Waltham, MA to the late Charles and Irene (Cormier) Orifice. He attended school in Petersham, MA before attending Waltham Senior High.
Richie worked for several Waltham-based automotive establishments. He was a DJ for a short time and also worked for different food delivery companies and was on the board at the Waltham Community Day Center. Richie met Robin while attending classes in 1982, becoming close friends. After years apart, they reconnected, marrying on October 20, 2007.
Richie was a music enthusiast and an expert in audio-video restoration. An avid collector of 45 and 78 RPM records as well as classic vintage albums, Richie took great care in cleaning each one before digitizing them, restoring the sound to their original glory. He also found great joy in listening to his 78s on his Victrola.
Richie and Robin loved spending time at Old Orchard Beach and Wingaersheek Beach in the summer. Other hobbies he enjoyed included sketching and drawing, collecting classic car models, playing cards and board games. He loved to watch his collection of favorite television series Dark Shadows, Seinfeld, Drew Carey and Curb your enthusiasm.
Richie loved to laugh and make people smile, a loving and caring man who loved and lived for his family.
A celebration of Richie’s life will be held at a future date when pandemic restrictions are lifted.
