GAETANO THOMAS “TOMMY” MONTI,

Of Waltham, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Care Dimensions Hospice Home after a long illness. He was 80.

Born in Lipari, Italy, the son of the late Mario and Caterina (Rando) Monti, Tommy moved to Lincoln, Massachusetts as a young man. Living in Lincoln for a short time he then moved to Waltham where he made his home and raised his family.

A well-respected tailor, Tommy owned and operated Vittorio’s Custom Tailoring in Waltham for many years. He was dedicated to his craft. A pattern designer he had worked in Boston for several years. He had taken many classes to hone his skills. He was also an accomplished musician and watchmaker. Tommy was determined to be the best he could be in all his endeavors.

Family was the most important thing to him and he was known for his sense of humor and his story telling ability. Tommy loved to care for his yard, keeping a well maintained house with his flowers in the front and his garden in the back. Tommy used the “Seventh Day” for his landscape upkeep.

Tommy just celebrated his 55th anniversary on May 2nd with his beloved wife, Anna “Doriana” (DiCarlo) Monti.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving children, Thomas M. Monti and his wife, Theresa of Waltham, Tammy D. Monti of Waltham, Mario Monti and his wife, Donna of Framingham, Anthony Monti of Waltham and Nadia Monti of Billerica, his cherished granddaughter Natalia Elizabeth, his dear sisters Bartolina Morvillo Formato, Maria Alagna and her husband, Salvatore and Angela Monti-LoNigro and her husband Anthony all of Waltham and his sister in law of Natalina Monte of Australia. He is also survived by his “Florida family” Barbara Collins her husband, Jim and children, Ace and Hannah.
