Obituary for John Renzullo Sr.

(Ret.) Massachusetts State Trooper John Renzullo

It is with profound sadness and great love that the family of Lieutenant John C. Renzullo, Sr., announces his passing on the 29th day of March, 2020. Beloved husband, father and Papa, John passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Due to the recent Covid 19 pandemic, services were postponed until presently.

He will be forever cherished and remembered by his wife Barbara (Barnes) Renzullo of 41 years of North Billerica; his son Matthew Renzullo and wife Lindsay (Belmonte) of Reading, MA; and daughter Juliette (Renzullo) Fournier and husband Philip of Waltham, MA. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren, Zachary, Riley, Madison, Logan and Dominic. He also leaves behind a loving niece, Linda Cristini, to whom he was “Uncle Sonny”.

John was predeceased by his parents Carlo and Lena Renzullo and his sister Dorothy “Dolly” (Renzullo) Cristini.

John was born and raised in Malden, Massachusetts. He enlisted into the United States Airforce at the age of 18. He was honorably discharged after 8 years of service and went on to receive his degree in mechanical engineering at MIT. He worked as an engineer for many years, however, always having a passion for helping others, John later pursued his dream of becoming a police officer. He became a member of the Metropolitan Police Force on April 19, 1974 which later became the Massachusetts State Police. After a rewarding career, John retired as Lieutenant of the Massachusetts State Police December 31, 1992.

John's dedication to his family was his priority throughout his life. His wife Barb “Mamacita” was the true love of his life. His twins Matt and Julie were his world. If there is anything they learned from him, it is that family is truly the most important part of life and to appreciate and cherish it. John was an incredible “Papa” to his five grandchildren who he adored with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed by his entire family.

For the safety of those we love and care about during this difficult time, and for those who wish to pay their respects to John and his family can do so in accordance with CDC, Federal and State guidelines in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA., on Saturday afternoon June 27th from 2 - 4 p.m. followed by a funeral service celebrating his life at 4 p.m.

The family wishes to extend great thanks to all who supported them during this difficult time especially due to the current pandemic.
