Obituary for Emanuela Leone (Gigliotti)

EMANUELA (GIGLIOTTI) LEONE,

Of Newton, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Platania, Calabria, Italy, the daughter of the late Fiore and Lucia (Grandinetti) Gigliotti, Emanuela came to the United States and lived in Newton for many years.

A strong and independent woman in her own right, family was her passion. Emanuela devoted her life to caring for her husband, her children and, with great joy, her grandchildren and great granddaughter. A great friend to all, she always thought of others, and reached out her hand to those in need.

Cooking and baking were her greatest expressions of love. She took great pride in sharing her recipes and traditions with her children and grandchildren.

Beyond cooking and baking, Emanuela enjoyed sewing and never missed an opportunity to go shopping with her friends and family.

Everyone who knew Emanuela deeply cherished their relationship with her, from her loving husband, children and grandchildren, to her siblings and close friends.

A devout Catholic, she took great strength from her faith and had immense love for everyone in her life. Forever our Amazing Grace, she was our Angel on Earth and now our Angel in Heaven.

Emanuela is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years Mario Leone, her loving twin daughters Rosina Robinson and her husband Robert of West Newton and Lucia Leone of Waltham, her sons Frank Leone and his wife Nicole and Michael Leone and his wife Jeanette both of Newton, dear sister of Teresa Santangelo, Angelo Gigliotti and Francesco Gigliotti all of Newton and Natale Gigliotti of Wellesley. She is also survived by her 14 cherished grandchildren and her great granddaughter, her many nieces and nephews and her group of close and wonderful friends who cared so deeply for her.

She was predeceased by her siblings Luigi Gigliotti, Maria Gigliotti, Tommasina Graziano, Chiarina Graziano, and Vincenzo Gigliotti.

A Funeral Service in celebration of Emanuela's Life will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Tuesday morning March 24th at 9:00 AM. Entombment will follow at the Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home on Monday March 23rd from 4 - 8PM.
