Sr. Irene J. Medzihradsky "Sr. Mary Michaeline SMSM"
Of Waltham, entered eternal rest & peace in the loving arms of her God on Tuesday March 17th, 2020 in Newton - Wellesley Hospital at the age of 98.
Sister Mary Michaeline was born on April 17, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio; beloved daughter of the late Ludwig (Louis) Medzihradsky and dear sister of the late Elise Lane, Joseph, Edward, and Robert Medzihradsky.
Sister entered the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary in Bedford, Massachusetts on August 2, 1945. Sister then worked as Bookkeeper and Bursar for the Region and gave service in Framingham and in Bedford for several years.
In 1968, Sister was missioned to Bougainville, PNG; she taught and continued to do secretarial work for the Bishop.
After her home visit in 1989, Sister Mary Michaeliine transferred to the North American Province and became a resident of the Retirement Village of Rocky Creek in Tampa, Florida. Sister remained very active in Florida working at a Veterans’ hospital with AIDS Patients.
In 2007, Sister left Rocky Creek community and returned to Waltham, Massachusetts Sister and was missioned to Marillac Assisted Living in Wellesley, MA.
Out of concern for the COVID 19 health crisis; the Marist Missionary Sisters will gather to celebrate Sister Irene's Life in PRIVATE at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Tuesday March 24th. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown. The Marist Sisters will plan a public prayer service at a later date.
