Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2020 at his home with his beloved wife by his side at the age of 75.
Born on June 23, 1944 in Waltham; son of the late Michael Castellano and Carmelina (Terrana) Castellano, Phil was a lifelong resident of Waltham, and spent several summers at his home at Winnipesaukee.
A graduate of Waltham Vocational High School with the Class of 1962; Phil worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator as a young man until being appointed as a Fireman with the Waltham Fire Department in 1971. He retired after 28 years of dedicated service to the Waltham community in 1989. He was a longtime member of the Waltham Lodge of Elks #953 (B.P.O.E.) and often spent time with friends at the Sons of Italy Dante Algheri Lodge in Waltham.
In his younger days, Phil had a passion for all his classic cars and several boats. He thoroughly enjoyed keeping them in pristine condition.
Phil is survived by his devoted & loving wife of 52 years Helen M. (Boudreau) Castellano; his dear siblings Frances Watts of Maryland; Mary Gorman and her husband Irvof Framingham and Michael Castellano of New Hampshire; and his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Kevin Boudreau and his wife Kerry of Watertown; Irene Hyde and Barbara Gately both of Florida. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his dear siblings Sal, John, Andy, Rosalie and Emily.
In light of the ongoing health crisis, Philip's Family will schedule a public memorial service at a later date to celebrate his life and honor his service to the City of Waltham Fire Department.
