Obituary for Sr. Theresa M. "Sr. Mary de Lourdes" LaPointe Smsm

Sr. Therese Marie LaPointe “Sr. Mary de Lourdes SMSM”

Of Waltham, entered eternal rest & peace in the loving arms of her God on Thursday March 12th, 2020 at Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham at the age of 94.

Sister Therese was born in Salem, Massachusetts on November 28, 1925; beloved daughter of the late Alfred Philippe LaPointe and Marie Helene (Pelletier) LaPointe.

Sister entered the Marist Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary on February 11, 1952 and made her 1st profession of Vows on August 15, 1954; and her Final Vows in Bedford, MA. on Aug. 15, 1960.

After receiving her BA Ed. Degree, in 1962, Sister was assigned to Bougainville, PNG. In the same year.
Sister Therese spent many years in teaching and in administration before being transferred back to the North American Province of her Congregation in February of 1976. Sister Therese spent from 1976-1979 in Peru, where she was a teacher.

Sister returned to the United States to work in administration once again in1979. In January of 1987, Sister became the Receptionist at Maristhill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waltham, MA, where she worked until her Retirement in January 2011.

Due to ailing health, Sister moved to Bethany Assisted Living in Framingham during September of 2011.
Sister Therese leaves her dear brother & sister, Philip LaPointe and Rita Gagnon both of Lawrence; as well as nieces and nephews and many friends, relatives and her devoted & loving community of Marist Missionary Sisters. We will always remember her keen wit and welcoming smile.

Sister Therese was predeceased by her dear brothers Gerard LaPointe and Bro. Leo LaPointe, SM.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of the Resurrection in celebration of Sister Therese's Life at the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence, 62 Newton St, Waltham on TUESDAY morning March 17th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Marist Missionary Sisters Lot at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours as well as the Rosary and sharing of her life will begin at 9:00 am followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30.
