Obituary for Alvin Morse "Bill" Linnell, Jr.

Alvin “Bill” M. Linnell, Jr. a lifelong resident of Waltham, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 22nd, at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA after a brief illness at the age of 80.

Born on June 4, 1942 in Waltham. He was the beloved son of the late Alvin M. Linnell and Elizabeth Linnell (Crowe).

Bill was a graduate of Waltham High School. After graduating from high school, he proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Later, working at NEC Company, Honeywell and Kinko’s Printing.

Bill enjoyed attending Sunday mass, was an avid Red Sox fan, loved collecting coins and had a real passion for working on and rebuilding old cars, especially his late brother Dave’s Cadillac. Bill was a loving brother, uncle and friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends.

Predeceased by his brothers, in whom he shared a special bond, the late David J. Linnell of Waltham and the late Daniel P. Linnell and wife Sandra Linnell (Montgomery) of Sandwich.

He is survived by his sister Elizabeth G. MacKenzie and her husband Murdock of Grafton. In addition, he is survived by his many nieces and nephews, Shawna Risotti (MacKenzie) and her husband Stephen of Marlborough, Jason MacKenzie and his significant other Jennifer of West Boylston, Crystal Marshall (MacKenzie) and her husband Adam of Grafton, Michael MacKenzie and his wife Ashely of Grafton, Daniel Linnell Jr. and his wife Laura of East Sandwich, and his nine great nieces and nephews, Anna and Matthew Risotti, Amity MacKenzie, Charlie and MacKenzie Marshall, and Josefa, Luke Shane and Isabel Linnell.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Bill’s life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody Street, Waltham on Friday, December 30th at 1:00 pm. Visiting hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel prior to the Funeral Service on Friday from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. Visitors are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking attendants. Burial will follow with United States Navy Honors at Mount Feake Cemetery located, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham.
