Lucy M. (Richard) McDonald

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Thursday afternoon March 19th, 2020 in Meadow Green Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness at the age of 89.

Born on March 7, 1931 in Rogersville, New Brunswick, Canada; daughter of the late Adolphe Richard and Flora (Morais) Richard, Lucy came to the United States in 1960 and has resided in Waltham ever since.

Lucy had been employed as a Manager Seamstress at Middlesex County Hospital in Waltham for many years. She volunteered preparing meals for the Meals on Wheels program in Waltham. Lucy spent her spare time enjoying all types of arts & crafts but always had a passion for sewing & crocheting. She had been a member of several different sewing clubs.

She is survived by her loving & devoted children Roland McDonald and his wife Cheryl of Woburn and Diane Nugent and her husband Paul of Dedham; her cherished grandchildren; Patrick Nugent, the late Kevin McDonald, Sarah McDonald, and Stephen McDonald; her adoring great grandchildren James and Abagail; and her dear siblings Roger Richard, Aurile Richard and Celeste Cormier all of Canada. In addition she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service in celebration of Lucy’s Life will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday March 24th at 12:00 p.m. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the funeral services on Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Lucy’s memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452
