Of Waltham died Wednesday morning at Care One in Lexington after a period of illness.
Pete was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, moved here as a young man and worked as a Plasterer alongside his brother, Ben and brother-in-law Valmond Henrie at Waltham Plastering.
Prior to his illness, Pete had been working at Market Basket in Waltham where he truly enjoyed interacting with neighbors and friends he made daily.
Pete loved Waltham, but the biggest part of his heart was still in his birthplace, St. Paul, New Brunswick. He loved to fish and hunt whenever he had the opportunity. He also loved getting out to socialize with his Bingo buddies.
If you asked Pete who were the most admired and respected people in his life, he would be quick to say his late parents Raymond & Marguerite Leger. He was the brother of the late Alfred Leger, Alfreda, Ben, Alma, Emma, Leandre, Eloi, Oscar, Denis, Geraldine & Patsy.
Pete is survived by his siblings, Leo Leger and his wife Delcina of St. Paul, Canada, Florine Pitre and her husband Leonard of Charleton, MA, Lorraine Jaillet and her late husband Gerald of Boutouche, New Brunswick, Edna Henrie and her husband Valmond of Waltham, Marie Fillmore and her husband Donnie of Clairville, New Brunswick and Laurie Boucher of Bouctouche. He leaves his sister in law, Joanne Leger (Husband, Ben) of Natick, MA, sister in law Noella Leger (Husband, Eloi) of St Antione, New Brunswick and his brother in law Normand Bastarache (Wife, Emma) of Marlborough, MA. In addition, Pete leaves several Nieces, Nephews and many close friends, who will remember “Pitou” as a fun loving, outgoing, generous uncle and friend who would be there in a heartbeat, when needed.
Pierre (Pete) Joseph Leger will be brought home to his native New Brunswick and he will be interred with other members of his beloved family in the spring.
For those who wish expressions of sympathy may be made in Pete’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Center, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts, 02215. The Brasco & Sons Memorial has assisted the Leger family with arrangements.
