Obituary for Anthony Leone

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning February 11th, 2020 in Newton - Wellesley Hospital after a long illness at the age of 83.

Born on February 18, 1936 in Newton; son of the late Carmen and Maria (DiCicco) Leone, Tony was a lifelong resident of Waltham.

He served proudly with the United States Army during the Korean War.

Tony had been employed with Belnap & McLean and with the Waltham Paper Bag Company before joining the City of Waltham labor force in the public works division.

He had many different hobbies that he enjoyed over the years like tending to his tomato garden, training homing pigeons, fishing and hunting. He was talented in many ways and helped build a home in Maine with his son. Being surrounded by family was always the most important aspect of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Catherine "Kay" Mary (Gurney) Leone; his devoted & loving children Donna Marie Butler and her husband Bill of Waltham; Anthony Leone Jr. and his wife Monique of Waltham; his cherished granddaughters Jessica Butler Valent, Andrea Leone and Julia Butler; and his dear siblings Clara Paraisi of Lexington and John Leone of Waltham. In addition he is survived by many nieces & nephews.

He was predeceased by his dear sisters Josephine Hachey, Mary Bedford, and Susan Redfern.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Anthony’s Life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Tuesday morning Feb. 18th at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow with United States Army at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel on Monday Feb. 17th from 4 - 8 p.m.
