Mary A. ((Macauda) Cartwright

Of Belmont, passed away Saturday evening January 11th, 2020 in the Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waltham at the age of 71.

Born on April 24, 1948 in Waltham; daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rafaela Macauda, Mary resided the majority of her life in Belmont; but as a military wife spent years living in different parts of the country.

A graduate of Belmont High School with the Class of 1966; Mary was employed at the Butler Elementary School in Belmont as an Activities Coordinator for the extended day program. She had a love for teaching children and always caring for them.

Mary always made everyone feel like they were family; as a military wife and mom, she spent time caring for others children, teaching cooking and sewing classes to other wives.

In the past few years she volunteered with the Catholic Daughters of America and was an active and devoted member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Belmont.

She is survived by her devoted & loving daughters Teresa Fontaine and her husband Scott of Pennsylvania; and Denice Cartwright of Belmont; her dear brother Joseph Macauda and his wife Mary of Falmouth; her caring sisters-in-law Annette Macauda of Waltham and Lucinda Jones of Stoneham; 4 cherished grandchildren Brighton, Grayson, Asher and Madison. In addition she is survived by many cousins, nieces & nephews and extended family in Italy.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved son Edward "Eddie" James Cartwright and dear brother Anthony Macauda.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Mary’s Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 325 Trapelo Road, BELMONT on Thursday morning Jan. 16th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph's Church, 130 Common Street, Belmont at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Belmont Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday Jan. 15th from 3 – 7 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
