Sr. Mary Jeannette Misiura "Sister Mary Jeannette SMSM"
Of Waltham, entered eternal rest & peace in the loving arms of her God on Tuesday December 3rd, 2019 at the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley at the age of 95.
Beloved daughter of the late Anthony Misiura and Mary (Zarnowski) Misiura.
Sr. Mary Jeannette entered the Marist Missionary Sisters on July 31, 1948 in Bedford, MA. Sister made her first Profession of Vows on February 2, 1951. She was assigned to give community service in the house of Formation right after her Profession.
In October of 1951, Sister was missioned to the Island of Tonga where she began her teaching career. In 1957, Sister Jeannette was missioned to New Zealand due to health needs and also gave community service until 1964.
Sister Jeannette had her Home Visit in 1964 and returned to New Zealand at the end of the year to take Education courses. Once again, Sister went to Tonga and taught until 1972. Sister Jeannette moved onto Hawaii to give service at St Stephen’s seminary and then to teach at Ewa Beach with our Sisters through 1974.
Returning to Massachusetts in 1975, Sister Jeannette gave service at Marist Hill Nursing Home as well as took courses in 1975.
In the beginning of 1976, Sister was missioned to Peru where she worked until 1990. In between, sister came for Home Visits and renewal.
In 1991, Sister Jeannette returned to Waltham and worked with Aids Victims and in Hispanic Ministry thought 1997. Sister gave community service from 1997-2006 when she moved to Marillac Assisted Living in Wellesley, MA. As her health deteriorated, Sister needed more care and moved to Elizabeth Seton Residence in 2015,
Sister leaves many friends in Tonga and in Peru; also leaves several relatives and her devoted & loving community of Marist Missionary Sisters.
Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of the Resurrection in celebration of Sister Jeannette's Life at the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence, 62 Newton St, Waltham on TUESDAY morning December 10th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Marist Missionary Sisters Lot at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours as well as the Rosary and sharing of her life will begin at 9:00 am followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30.
In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to Marist Missionary Sisters, 349 Grove Street, Waltham, MA 02453-6018.
